Ingredients
- 1 Salt and pepper to taste
- 30 g Butter
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 1 pinch Nutmeg
- 100 g Gruyère cheese
- 300 ml Heavy cream
- 300 ml Whole milk
- 1 kg Waxy potatoes

Preheat oven to 180°C. Butter a baking dish and rub with garlic.

Heat cream, milk, garlic and nutmeg until just simmering.

Layer potato slices in dish, seasoning each layer.

Pour cream mixture over potatoes.

Top with grated cheese and dot with butter.

Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes.

Remove foil and bake 20 minutes more until golden.

Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
