Steak and Ale Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Onion
  • 200 ml Beef stock
  • 375 g Puff pastry
  • 500 g Stewing steak
  • 500 ml Ale

Instructions

    Brown the steak in a large pan.

    Add the onion and cook until softened.

  3. 3

    Stir in the ale and stock. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook for 2 hours until the meat is tender.

    Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6.

    Spoon the meat mixture into a pie dish.

  6. 6

    Roll out the pastry and cover the pie. Trim the edges and make a slit in the top.

    Brush with beaten egg.

  8. 8

    Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry is golden.
