Ingredients
- 200 g Self-raising flour
- 2 litres Vegetable oil
- 250 ml Beer
- 4 large Potatoes
- 2 Cod or haddock fillets
- 1 Salt and vinegar

Peel the potatoes and cut them into chips.

Rinse the chips in cold water and dry thoroughly.

Heat the oil in a deep-fat fryer to 160C. Fry the chips for 5-7 minutes until soft but not coloured. Drain and set aside.

For the batter, mix the flour and beer until smooth.

Turn up the heat of the fryer to 180C.

Dip the fish in the batter and fry for 8-10 minutes, until golden and crispy.

While the fish is cooking, fry the chips again for 2-3 minutes until golden and crisp.

Serve the fish and chips with salt and vinegar.
